What Is a Breakthrough Boost Session? Inside Our 90-Minute Coaching Experience

Feeling Stuck? Here’s What Happens in a 90-Minute Breakthrough Session with Damona

There’s a particular kind of frustration that’s hard to explain. You’re not doing nothing, you’re showing up, trying, making moves. But something isn’t shifting. The relationship you want keeps feeling just out of reach. The career move you’ve been circling stays on someday. You know something has to change, but you’re not sure where to start.

That’s exactly what a Breakthrough Boost session is designed for.

    1. It’s Not Just Dating Coaching

A lot of people come to Damona with relationship questions. But after 15 years of coaching, what she’s found is that the thing blocking someone in their love life is usually the same thing blocking them at work, in their family, or in their finances.

The Breakthrough Boost isn’t limited to dating. It’s a 90-minute, laser-focused deep dive into whatever area of your life is ready for a real shift. Relationships, career, healing, a transition you’ve been standing at the edge of for too long.

    2. Manifestation Is Not Magic

It’s intention plus action. The problem is that most of us are clear on what we don’t want and fuzzy on what we actually do want. We repeat the same beliefs, make the same choices, and wonder why we keep landing in the same place.

A Breakthrough Boost session cuts through that. You name the dream, identify what’s blocking you, and walk away with a real plan to get there.

    3. What to Expect in the Session

In 90 minutes together, you’ll move through a rapid diagnostic, surface the beliefs that have been quietly programming you away from the life you want, and leave with two to three targeted interventions and a clear next step.

Not theory. Practical action you can take right away.

    4. Why Spots Are Limited

Damona is opening a small number of these sessions in May only, before she heads back out on the road. When May is over, this opportunity goes away. These are not ongoing coaching packages. They’re designed to be high-impact, targeted, and focused entirely on getting you to a breakthrough fast.

If something in this is speaking to you, that’s not a coincidence.

Book a Breakthrough Boost at damonahoffman.com/breakthrough while May slots are still available.

  • Online dating frustration? Not anymore. | LOVElife Dating Blog

My how times have changed. When did it happen that if you’re single and not online dating, you’re now the weird one? Once seen as something slightly embarassing that you hid from your mates, singles the world over now openly pepper their phone screens with dating apps, share their online dating experiences, check profiles with friends and chin-wag about their date experiences – today we’re dating loud and proud!

There seems to be a new dating app popping up every day, as well as specialist dating apps to suit your every whim. Love fossil collecting? Feet? Trees? Yay, there’s a site for you where you can meet likeminded singles. Great huh? So how’s it working for you?  Umph.

Tired of scrolling through profiles? Sick of sending witty messages and receiving no response? Feeling frustrated and disillusioned with the whole dating game? Don’t give up. Here’s what to do:

    Profile perfect:

First off, the basics. How’s that profile looking? Now ask your mates how they think it looks and reads, honestly.

    • Have a clear picture of your face as the main pic, not flash or showy, natural, smiling, not cheesy.
    • Don’t over filter. Can you look that airbrushed in the flesh, in daylight?
    • You need multiple pictures that give an insight into your world, not a showy or flashy one, just interesting. A travel pic, somewhere you like to hang out, something you cooked up, treasure, or your favourite stack of novels or painting? These shots can then lead to someone thinking they instantly have something in common with you ie: I love that book too!
    • Your narrative must sum you up as fun to be with, modest and…human.
    • Needs to be easy to read and gets to the point.

Messages: Not receiving replies to your messages? Are you saying the same thing over and over? We’re all guilty of it. Check that:

    • You sound keen, honest, open, geniune and not like a car salesman.
    • You do not, NOT make sexual or physical references to how they look. To a women, it’s not flattering, it’s a little sleazy.
    • You prove you’ve read their profile by making reference to something in it.
    • You don’t talk about yourself, or that you’ve just come out of a bad relationship.
    • End with a light question, people are then more inclined to reply/answer it…aren’t they?

Too much choice is sometimes a bad thing: Another reason people get frustated by a lack of response is…it’s cos we’re too spoilt for choice. Dating has become so good at getting people together, seems everyone wants to set up a dating site. Do you research on a site and stick to one at a time as it’s far less stressful. We’re all tempted by the countless free dating apps out there, well we all like a freebie, right? But we’re talking about finding the future love of your life here. The reality is, fast hook-ups are often just fast hook-ups, and people are making ruthless judgement based on looks alone. Romantic, huh? If it’s love and a meaningful relationship you seek, it’s worth investing in a trusted, longer-established paid site, as studies show fee paying members are likely to be more serious about finding love.

Be in it to win it. The more you date, the nearer you get to finding Mr or Mrs Right for you. Go get ’em!

  • Situationship Vs Relationship UK Guide

    Situationship Vs Relationship UK Guide

Are You in a Relationship or Just Auditioning for One? The Situationship Vs Relationship UK Guide

You spend Friday nights together. You text every day. You’ve met two of his friends and one of his colleagues. You’ve done the Sunday morning supermarket run. You’ve been on what any reasonable person would describe as at least six dates. And yet, somehow, nobody has said the words. Nobody has defined anything. You exist in a warm, intimate, thoroughly confusing grey zone where you’re clearly more than nothing but apparently not quite something.

Congratulations. You are probably in a situationship.

The situationship vs relationship UK question is one of the most searched dating topics right now – and it’s not hard to understand why. An entire generation of otherwise sensible, professionally successful adults has somehow ended up in romantic arrangements that have all the emotional intensity of a relationship with none of the actual commitment. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone, and you are not stupid. You have simply been caught in one of the most expertly constructed ambiguity traps in modern dating.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • A situationship has all the hallmarks of a relationship – intimacy, regular contact, shared time – but crucially lacks the commitment, clarity, and forward direction that make it an actual relationship.

    • The reason situationships persist is usually a combination of someone who benefits from the ambiguity and someone else who hopes that patience will eventually convert it into something real. It rarely does.

    • The solution is simple but uncomfortable: ask for clarity, observe the response, and act accordingly rather than continuing to hope.

    • By the end of this post, you will know with uncomfortable certainty which one you’re in – and what to do about it.

    What a Situationship Actually Is

A situationship is not a new relationship that hasn’t been labelled yet. It’s not a slow burn. It’s not someone who needs more time. It’s a romantic arrangement that one or both parties have – consciously or otherwise – chosen to keep undefined because definition would require either commitment or a difficult conversation, and neither of those things is happening.

The term is relatively new but the arrangement is ancient. It used to be called “stringing someone along.” Before that it was probably described in slightly more Victorian language involving cads and bonnets. What’s new is the cultural permission structure that makes it feel almost acceptable – the idea that “going with the flow” is sophisticated and mature and that asking for clarity is somehow needy or premature.

It is not needy. It is not premature. After several months of behaving like someone’s partner, asking whether you are someone’s partner is one of the most reasonable things a human being can do.

The Situationship vs Relationship UK Checklist

Let’s settle this with some specificity, because the devil is always in the details.

You are probably in a relationship if: plans are made in advance, your status is clear to both parties, you’ve been introduced to important people in each other’s lives as a partner rather than a “friend,” there is a visible forward direction to the whole thing, and when you ask directly where this is going, you get a direct answer rather than a warm deflection.

You are probably in a situationship if: plans materialise last-minute or at his convenience, the future is a topic that gets affectionately avoided, you’ve been introduced to people but your role was never quite specified, the physical intimacy is excellent but the emotional clarity is non-existent, and any attempt to have the conversation results in either a very romantic distraction or a slightly sulky withdrawal that resolves itself once you stop pushing.

Notice anything? The situationship functions on the absence of information. The moment you try to introduce information – specifically, information about what you both want and where this is going – something goes wrong. That’s not a coincidence. That’s the architecture of the thing.

Why Smart, Experienced Women End Up Here

This question gets asked a lot, and it deserves a proper answer rather than a shrug.

Smart, experienced women end up in situationships for several very understandable reasons. First, the early stages genuinely can feel like the beginning of a real relationship, because many of the same components are present. Second, once emotional investment exists, the psychological cost of accepting that it isn’t what you hoped becomes significant. It’s much more comfortable to continue hoping than to seek clarity and potentially lose the warmth entirely.

Third – and this is the one nobody likes to say out loud – some situationships involve perfectly decent people who genuinely enjoy the connection but are not actually available for a relationship. Not unavailable because of timing or circumstances, but unavailable because they don’t want one with you specifically, or with anyone right now, but they do want to continue having a lovely time with you until something more convenient appears on the horizon.

This is not your fault. But it is information. And information, however uncomfortable, is far more useful than continued ambiguity.

What Happens When You Ask for Clarity

Here is the single most useful piece of practical advice in this entire post, courtesy of eighteen years of working with people at every stage of the dating process: ask for clarity and watch the response. Not the words. The response.

Someone who wants a real relationship with you will not find this question threatening. They may be briefly nervous, they may not have the most polished answer, but they will engage. They will want to have the conversation. They will be relieved that you raised it because it gives them the opportunity to say something real.

Someone who is invested in the situationship continuing as it is will respond in one of a few predictable ways. They will change the subject using warmth and affection. They will suggest that labels aren’t important when what you have feels so natural. They will become mildly pouty and suggest you’re overthinking something perfect. They will give you an answer that sounds like a commitment but is, on reflection, made entirely of beautiful non-specifics.

None of these responses is the response of someone building a future with you. And at a certain point, that matters.

If you want support navigating conversations like this – including how to have the defining conversation in a way that actually produces useful information rather than a skilled deflection – working with a dating coach who has seen every version of this pattern is one of the most practically useful things you can do.

The Situationship Vs Relationship UK Exit Strategy (and Why You Deserve One)

If you’ve done the checklist, had the conversation, and received beautiful non-specifics, you have your answer. And your answer is that you are in a situationship.

At which point, you have two options. You can continue in the hope that something shifts – which occasionally happens, but significantly less often than the people doing the hoping tend to believe. Or you can remove yourself from an arrangement that is consuming emotional energy you could be spending on someone who is actually, genuinely, enthusiastically available for what you want.

The situationship vs relationship UK distinction matters enormously in practical terms because the two things require fundamentally different responses. A relationship that’s moving slowly needs patience and communication. A situationship that’s been beautifully static for six months needs an exit, not more patience.

You deserve someone who is clear. Someone who introduces you properly. Someone who makes plans. Someone whose behaviour consistently matches their words. Someone who, when asked where this is going, has an answer that contains actual nouns and a discernible direction.

That person exists…I promise you.  They are probably not the person you are currently “going with the flow” with. They are – with some irony – much more likely to be found through a properly structured introduction process with people who have been vetted for relationship readiness, which you can explore through professional dating agency reviews here.

Situationship Vs Relationship UK : One Final Thought

The word “situationship” has an air of modern inevitability about it, as if this is just how dating works now and everyone should simply adjust their expectations accordingly.

That is nonsense. Plenty of people meet, establish genuine mutual interest, and build actual relationships without spending four months in an emotionally intense grey zone wondering what they are to each other.

You are allowed to want that. You are allowed to expect it. And you are absolutely allowed to stop settling for situationship vs relationship UK confusion when what you actually want – and what you actually deserve – is the real thing.

  • Matchmaking tips: how to make yourself easier to match

Matchmaking tips: how to make yourself easier to match

If you’re considering using the services of an introduction agency, you might feel that the onus is on the professional matchmaker to find potential partners.

That’s partly true – and you can certainly expect your matchmaker to do the legwork – but there are also things that you can do to ensure that the matchmaking process runs a lot more smoothly. Here are a few examples…

Decide if a matchmaking agency is right for you

The first step is to decide if a dating agency is the best option for you before joining. Generally, we would recommend it as a great option for women aged between 22 and 55 and men aged 27 to 60.

Any younger or older than those guidelines and you will often find an agency will struggle to provide a suitable volume of potential partners.

Find more ways of deciding if joining an introduction agency is a good idea.

    Use word-of-mouth recommendations

Don’t let a dating agency get away with less stringent checks than you would use before hiring a builder or going to a restaurant.

Ask your friends and shop around. Choosing a matchmaker need not be a shot in the dark – you’ll find plenty of people to consult before you make a final decision as long as you are prepared to ask.

Make sure your agency has been in business for at least two years, ask them for prices in advance and be wary of those with high-pressure selling techniques.

    Think about geography

There’s no point joining a dating agency with lots of members if none of them live anywhere near you.

Check out the geography of a matchmaker’s membership before signing up. If you are interested in meeting members from London, join a London matchmaking agency.

    Be aware of men:women ratios

Alarm bells ought to ring if an agency tells you they have a 50/50 split of men and women.

Nearly all agencies have more younger men and more older women among their members, because younger women and older men tend to pair off. As well as testing the trustworthiness of your agency, this information should also manage your expectations as to how easy you will be to match.

    Avoid long-term demands

You may know that you want marriage, kids, to move abroad or to live by subsistence farming, but there is no need to place those demands on somebody you haven’t met.

Insisting that an agency only matches you with people who have set the same long-term goals as you will limit your options significantly. Some people might be reticent to meet if they feel those goals are more important to you than the quality of the relationship itself, or if they feel that you’re overbearing by essentially demanding a level of commitment before the first date.

Others might only decide that they want those things after building a relationship with somebody and could be unwilling to promise them in advance.

    Quit smoking

Any matchmaker worth their salt will tell you that even smokers don’t want to be matched with smokers. We explained quitting smoking will help you find love in this blog post.

Stubbing out the cigarette is a surefire way to ensure you get more matches at any dating agency.

Meet as many people as possible

Don’t be overly choosy when reading profiles or looking at pictures. Even if you’re not seeing Mr or Ms Right on the sheet of paper presented to you by your matchmaker, where’s the harm in a cup of coffee or a quiet drink?

The more people you meet, the more likely you are to meet your next partner.

    Continue to look elsewhere

Don’t sit back and wait for your matchmaker to deliver your perfect partner.

At Drawing Down the Moon, we’re firm believers that pursuing more than one dating option is the quickest way to success.

  • Turn off the outside noise and listen to your inner wisdom | Jo Barnett: Leading Men’s Dating Coach in London

Turn off the outside noise and listen to your inner wisdom | Jo Barnett: Leading Men’s Dating Coach in London

Today I took some time just to quiet some of the outside noise and it’s interesting what I noticed.

That it really is just noise, that we create in our head, the stories we tell ourselves, the limits we set, that in order to do this or that we must be different in some way to how we are.

Reverse this logic and remind yourself the truth, that you are exactly where you are meant to be for everything that is happening in your life. You know enough, you are enough and you have enough in you to do what it is that you really want.

We are so used to tuning out, to switching on the TV, the podcast, the news, the phone, that we listen to everyone apart from ourselves.

The same happens in your love life, where you tell yourself you cant talk to that person because of X or Y and so you dont and you miss out on opportunities.  Instead tell yourself that you can and smile at that stranger, say hi and ask how their day is going, what’s the worse that can happen?

We are naturally born to connect and yet we spend most of our time avoiding real connections, this is not the way it has to be and you can make the change.

If you were everything you ever wanted to be what would you do today that would be different?

I’m joining you in this challenge and will be pushing through the layers of self belief and knowing I can do whatever I set my mind to.
